Mar Thoma Church is a denomination based in Kerala in the south-western of India. The Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church sees itself as continuing the apostolic succession and traditions first introduced by Apostle Thomas.

The Maramon Convention is the largest Christian gathering in Asia, the convention is held for eight days during the first week of the Great Lent that usually falls in February, it brings together estimated 100-200.000 participants per day. The convention is held on the sand-bed of the Pampa River near Kozhencherry. The gathering is conducted by the Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association, the missionary wing of the Mar Thoma Church.
